New York

New York

5 days from £674 - Departing October 2009 to January 2010

There is nowhere quite like New York, one of the most exciting cities in the world. Whether it’s your first time to the original ‘city that never sleeps’, or you are making a welcome return visit, you’ll never tire of things to see and do with over 150 museums, 400 art galleries and more than 10,000 shops to amaze!

Whether you hit the shops, see the sights or soak up the nightlife, as the words of the song says…. “it’s up to you New York, New York”.

Manhattan’s skyline is known throughout the world and the very best views over the city are from the top of the Empire State Building, or by helicopter. Upper Manhattan is where you’ll find the Metropolitan Opera House and the Lincoln Centre for Performing Arts, whilst Midtown Manhattan is home to Broadway, Radio City Music Hall and Times Square. Wall Street is Lower Manhattan’s most famous address and from Battery Park, you can board an excursion boat for Ellis Island to get a close up look at the Statue of Liberty or view the city from the water. Or just escape to Central Park for a break from the shopping and sightseeing.

New York is a shoppers paradise - retail therapy is available until you “shop till you drop” on 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue where Macey’s, Tiffany’s and Bloomingdale’s are the main department stores. Window shop at Madison Avenue’s chic designer boutiques or find a bargain at Century 21 between Broadway and Church Street. If shopping really is your thing then check out the mall at the Time Warner Centre at Columbus Circle, or spend a day in one of the huge out of town Shopping Malls.

New York is a food lovers dream and is home to some of the best eateries in the world; from ‘eggs over easy’ for breakfast in a diner to a ‘special occasion’ dinner in a top class restaurant, you will be amazed at the seemingly endless choice of places to dine including the world-famous New York delis.
